The critical thinking is not really the issue. it's how we(retorical) say things that can turn people off in the sense of intimidation. At least that is what i identified for myself. Now I only need to cosidier this in a classroom setting and see how that can have very negative connotations. Some may be challenged, others quickly check out mentally and thus are lost from learning.
