Fire restrictions lifted for unincorporated Jefferson County
Jefferson County, CO. – Effective at 8 a.m. on October 6, 2015, the Jefferson County Sheriff will lift the temporary fire restriction order for all areas of unincorporated Jefferson County, to include all federal lands. The current and predicted weather conditions have reduced the danger of wildfire; however, people are encouraged to be vigilant as the danger of fire is always present in the high country. Citizens should be reminded to use caution when starting and extinguishing campfires, disposing of lighted cigarettes, and other activities that involve the use of fire or sparks. Warm and windy days can quickly lower the fuel moisture content of trees and grasses, making them susceptible to ignition.
The Sheriff will continue to closely monitor the fire danger in the county and make appropriate adjustments to reduce the risk of human caused fires in Jeffco.
