BATFE considering ban of "Green Tip" M855 5.56 ammunition

Gun-rights groups are in an uproar over an ammunition ban proposed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The ATF says it wants to ban M855 ball ammunition, a .223 (or 5.56 mm) rifle bullet that has been used by American citizens for decades. The ATF says it wants to ban this popular bullet because it is “armor piercing.”

Looks like Obama is on a mission to complete his "fundamental transformation" of the Union before he leaves office in January of 2016 . . .

At the rate he's going I wonder if the "fundamental transformation" he has in mind is a dictatorship. He needs to keep in mind that when democracy becomes tyranny the armed citizen still gets to vote. And of course that's why he continues to disarm us.

It does seem weird that they are giving Americans plenty of time to buy up all ammo stocks affected. They did the same thing with 5.45mm Russian ammo last year. Helping to spur the economy?

Missed the action to ban the import of 5.45. Did that one go through or can you still get the military surplus rounds?

You can't get them from Russia, sanctions against Putin.
