Startin g at an elevation of 9,915’ and topping out at 13,183’ the South Park Marat hon and Half are among the highest in Colorado. Marathoners run from the So uth Park Historical District all the way to the top of The Peerless Mine. W itness first hand the terrain that prospectors experienced during the great Colorado Gold Rush. Oxygen is not required to enjoy the raging creeks, his toric mines, and the scramble above tree line after all.

Half marathoners can enjoy HPRS’ fastest half, sprinkled with deceptive uphills and downhills. We’ll have y ou questioning the elevation map in your pocket. This race is a good introd uction to what HPRS is all about, overcoming #Adversity, and growing from t he experience.

A marathon to test your mining soul. Hardworking men and women sunk themse lves into the Earth day in and out to make a living for their families. Wha t purpose drives you to sink yourself into this sport? We run over the rive rs and through the woods, but there is no grandmother’s house on this route , only the opportunity to face #Adversity and triumph. Of course, it wouldn ’t be a Human Potential Race without a few bonus miles. Lucky for you they’ re free!

COURSE D ETAILS

Maratho n
Beginning in South P ark City, this out-and-back course ascends and descends Peerless Mountain v ia 4-Mile Creek Road. Runners will ascend Peerless Mountain, passing Peerle ss Mine, to the highest extent which snow will safely allow us before retur ning to town. The race finishes at the Fairplay Town Beach. In the event of deep snow beyond Horseshoe Aid Station, please see our *Snow Course Information*

Marathon Aid Stations: T here will be 4 aid stations on the course totaling 7 aid stops. E ach aid station will be fully stocked with water, electrolyte drink, and as sorted snacks. There will be no drop bag stations. Runners should plan to c arry necessary gear for the entirety of their run. (Note: Coil Aid Station is water ONLY)

Half Mara thon
The Half Marathon route follows the same route as the Marathon’s first 7.5 miles before runn ers return back to town. Yes, the Half Marathon is 15 miles long. We call t he ~2 extra miles “Bonus Miles” and they are FREE!

Half Marathon Aid Stations: There will be 2 aid stations on the cou rse totaling 3 aid stops. The main “horseshoe” aid station at the turn -around will be fully stocked with water, electrolyte drink, and assorted s nacks. The other aid station will be water only. There will be no drop bag stations. Runners should plan to carry necessary gear for the entirety of t heir run.

Crews: Due to access difficulty in the area, and in accordance with our permits for the event, there will be NO c rew access on the course.

Parking: All runners a nd spectators must park at the designated parking locations ONLY. We ask th at you NOT park on Main Street, Front Street or 4th Street in Fairplay. PLE ASE ONLY PARK IN DESIGNATED AREAS. A map of these areas will be available c loser to the race.

Pre-Race Check in: Packet and bib number Pick-Up Will take place from 6:30a-7:45a at South Park City in Fairplay, CO. All runners must check-in with race staff the morning of the run by 7:45AM. Runners not checked in by 7:45 AM will not be scor ed as official runners of the race.

Pre-Race Briefing: Race Morning at 7:45am at South Park City Museum in Fairplay, CO. 
Post-R ace Celebration: There will be a post race gathering a t the Town of Fairplay Beach. We’ll welcome all of our runners to the finis h line with food and drink.
