With the vitality of many volunteers over the past year, the track has dou bled in length, the turntable at the Roundhouse has a new deck, and 4 more railway cars have been generously donated.
The Denver B rass Free Concert

t 18: “Historic Interpretation Concert” at the Depot will feature The Denver Brass, dress
ed authentically as the “Como Band”, and Celtic Colorado Pipes and Drums. &
nbsp;The location will be at the Como Depot. The audience is invited to bri
ng their own blanket and sit on field facing the Depot.
Rides on Klondike Kate Locomotive Both Saturday and Sunday
Volunteers will be offering rides on Klondike Kate Locomotive in exchange for a donation to the South Park Rail, the group res ponsible for running and maintaining the locomotive. For a donation the gen eral public can ride the old South Park Railway for as long as they like. & nbsp;South Park Rail plans to operate the train both Saturday and Sunday. < /span>
More Track Laid
Volunt eer railroad workers have laid more track so now it reaches from the Roundh ouse to the Como Hotel, doubling the amount of track from last year. Plus 4 more railway cars have been donated. This includes an original Color ado & Southern Gondola car that used to travel through Como on a regula r basis a century ago.

New Turntable Deck at Roundhouse< /span>
South Park Rail volunteers just completed the new deck on the turntable. Como is a growing museum and railway and we hope to have new things to see every year.
Boreas Pass and Como Mining History at Roberts Cabin
The local mining history – which is why the railroad came through Como, Bor eas Pass and Breckenridge – will be explained by volunteer Charlease Bobo E lzenga who will present displays on the Peabody mining claim.
Vendors and Ice Cream
Local boost ers will have water, food trucks, and afternoon ice cream.
Como’s Painted Houses
These private h omes of the painter Rita Derjue and the Zimmerman family are opened for BPR D and are always a favorite and special delight to visit and enjoy. < /span>
Como’s Historic Schools and Buildings
There are new owners to some of Como’s historic buildings along historic Rowe St. who are participating in BPRD. Plus the schools -- lovingly maintained – will be open for viewing.

Denver, South Park and Pacific Historical Society’s Convention
The DSPPHS is holding its annual convention Aug ust 16-18 in Frisco. On the 18th, the historical society will drive from Breckenridge, over Boreas Pas s and into Como.

The High Line Railroad Park & Museum and Saw mill Museum will have dedicated volunteers to give out information about BP RD.
