The REVEL Rockies Half Marathon course offer s the best of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, including towering pines, beaut iful canyons, mountain lakes, and a gently flowing stream. This downhill pa ved course may be the fastest and most beautiful you ever run!
The Ha lf Marathon begins at the intersection of Lewis Ridge Road and Evergreen Pa rkway in the beautiful community of Evergreen. The first three miles of the course include broad views of the valley and Elk Meadow Park as runners he ad off into the sunrise. The course leaves Evergreen Parkway at Douglas Par k Road, eventually turning into Meadow Drive.
From Meadow Drive the c ourse connects onto Bear Creek Road and follows the creek straight downhill all the way to mile 13 at the entrance to the town of Morrison. This porti on of the course offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the West, i ncluding stunning rock formations, humming streams, and beautiful foliage.< /p>
Upon reaching Morrison the course passes the entrance to the world-fa mous Red Rocks Amphitheater before turning south on Highway 8 and finishing at the entrance of Morrison Park.
Runners should make sure to train
appropriately for this course as downhill running works muscles differently
than flat or uphill running.
The REVEL Rockies Marathon course offers the best of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, in cluding breathtaking views of the Mile High City, towering pines, beautiful canyons, mountain lakes, and a gently flowing stream. If that were not eno ugh, the whole course is downhill on a paved highway and is a Boston Marath on qualifier!
The Marathon begins roughly eleven miles up Squaw Pass Road near the old Echo Mountain Ski Resort and winds its way past Squaw Mou ntain, Mount Judge, Snyder Mountain, and Mount Pence, all the while enjoyin g a perfectly smooth downhill grade.
After leaving Squaw Pass Road th e course connects onto Evergreen Parkway as it makes its way through the be autiful community of Evergreen from miles 12-17. This portion of the course provides broad views of the valley and Elk Meadow Park. The Parkway offers a set of gently rolling hills as runners reach the half marathon start lin e. The course leaves Evergreen Parkway at Douglas Park Road, eventually tur ning into Meadow Drive.
