 guests to join Mary O’Brien, co-author of “Edible and Medicinal Plants of t
 he Southern Rockies: Foothills to Alpine in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Ida
 ho” to learn about wildcrafting, which is the craft of harvesting medicinal
  plants from the wild. During this insightful session, guests will learn ab
 out the health benefits of native plants, how to identify plants in nature,
  and steps to harvest medicinal plants in Colorado’s great outdoors. You’ll

 ry O'Brien</div><div class="x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s">Mary
  O’Brien was born and raised in Denver to a family that often spent time in
  the mountains camping, fishing and hiking. The family always had a large g
 arden and preserved their food. She has carried on that gardening fervor th
 roughout her adult years. She has lived in Steamboat Springs for over 30 ye
 ars following that yen to live in the mountains. There she teaches herbal m
 edicine, leads medicinal plant walks for the local environmental education 
 organization, Yampatika, wildcrafts, makes herbal products and maintains a 
 medicinal garden for Yampa River Botanic Park. Mary has been studying and p
 racticing herbal medicine since 1987. She studied with many renowned teache
 rs like Rosemary Gladstar, Brigitte Mars, Stephen Buhner and Michael Moore 
 and completed the Chartered Herbalist program with Dominion Herbal College.
  Her journey has led her to also work as an emergency medical technician an
 d massage therapist (retired from both now) and study the medicine wheel, s
 acred plant medicine, energy work and permaculture. She co-authored the boo
 k “Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Southern Rockies” and has taught thro
 ughout Colorado emphasizing the use of native and locally grown plants and 
 weeds for plant-based self-care. Her business is Black Bear Botanicals and 
 her products are available at Aspen Botanicals in Steamboat Springs. She is
  passionate about empowering others to re-create relationship with the plan
 t world, make us of their wonderful gifts and become sustainable caretakers
  of Mother Earth.</div><div class="x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1
