An Evergreen Library Reopening celebratio n is planned for Saturday April 13, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The communi ty is invited to enjoy a fun day of activities, including a ribbon-tying, t ours and a bingo activity. Patrons will also receive a commemorative sticke r (while supplies last).\n\n\n“We can’t wait to welcome the community back into the newly redesigned Evergreen Library! We retained the best parts of the library while enhancing the space with natural light, modern materials and flexible spaces to meet the needs of the community,” said Donna Walker, JCPL Executive Director. “This project reflects our strategic priorities t o reach more people, focus on building literacies, continue to be the third place and grow sustainably.”\n\n\nThe redesign of the 17,367-square-foot l ibrary, originally constructed in 1993, reflects JCPL’s vision of being an essential destination where all generations connect, discover and create. T he new space includes technology upgrades that support digital equity in th e transformation of service delivery, which contributes to our mission of b uilding an educated and vibrant community by providing equal access to info rmation and opportunities. Systems and structure maintenance were also addr essed during the redesign.\n\n\nBoard of Trustees Chair Kim Johnson remarke d, “Evergreen Library is truly unique in the JCPL library system, which is only reinforced with this redesign. Modern mountain finishes, lots of natur al light, a nod to sustainability and stewardship and those amazing views! It’s beautiful and functional.” The Evergreen Library closed in August of 2 023 for redesign work. Limited library services were made available to resi dents at the Evergreen Parkway Temporary Library. The Evergreen Library red esign project was approved by the JCPL Board of Trustees as part of its Fac ilities Master Plan and is budgeted for through the Library’s 5-year Capita l Improvement Plan.
