or a very special Saturday Bird Walk on May 25, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM wh
en we visit the seasonal bird banding station operated by Bird Conservancy
of the Rockies at Denver Audubon’s Nature Center at Chatfield. This is a fa
ntastic opportunity to see birds up close as Bird Conservancy Staff capture
, band, band and release migrating and local songbirds as part of their lon
g-term monitoring to understand bird populations and trends.
Our star
t time is based on our scheduled time for visiting the banding station. We
will begin the morning at the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies bird-banding
station where we will have the opportunity to see several species in-the-h
and and learn about their migratory behavior. Following our time at the Ba
nding Station, we will spend time birding along the South Platte adjacent t
o the Nature Center that is part of Chatfield State Park. Bring water, a sn
ack, and plan to meet at the Denver Audubon Nature Center no later than
8:20 AM. (details provided to registrants).

Historically, it has not
been necessary to have a Colorado State Parks pass for parking at the Natur
e Center, however there will be a charge of $7 per person for visit
ing the banding station. Please bring cash with you.
Please note: Registration is opening ea
rly for this event. Denver Audubon schedules these banding station visits;
they are very popular and fill rapidly. We have committed to a fixed
number of spaces for our members and we want to fill those spaces so as ma
ny members as possiblecan enjoy this incredible experience.
These wal
ks are for Evergreen Audubon members and their guests. Non-members won’t be
turned away but will be encouraged to join Evergreen Audubon. You must re
gister here to attend this event. If you are registering for more than one
person, please enter each person separately. This event is filled when we
have 15 registrants.
