  June 8 and 29\nNo one wants to be stuck in a traffic jam with flames on th
 e side of the road. Highway 73 is our most dangerous wildfire evacuation ro
 ute. Everyone on the west side of Highway 73 and many people on the east si
 de can leave the mountains only on this road. To get started on this necess
 ary community project, we are asking the community to help us.\nOn June 8 a
 nd June 29, we will be thinning vegetation for 30 feet off the west side of
  Highway 73 between Blue Creek Road and Surrey Drive. All seven property ow
 ners have agreed to this community service; thank you!\nAsplundh is donatin
 g crew time to fell the trees, far away from the volunteers. Thank you, Asp

 need:\nParking and volunteer directors\nLots of able-bodied people to haul 
 branches to trailers\nPossibly more large trailers to haul slash to the Elk
  Creek slash drop-off (let us know in advance)\nIf you are terrific with a 
 chainsaw, let us know and bring it along, as well as ear protection.  We mi
 ght need to cut up the 4” diameter and smaller trees we will be moving on J
 une 8, and we will need to limb the larger trees on June 29\nWEAR: Bright o
 range or lime green and hiking boots if you can, long pants, long sleeves, 
 sunglasses or safety glasses, work gloves, hat, and bring plenty of water. 
 We’ll have some orange or green safety vests and gloves to loan. \nPARK: Ca
 rpool if possible. Park well away from the work zone on a side street; foll
 ow parking director. Check-in on Surrey Drive near the corner of Highway 73
 .\nDONATIONS: Are appreciated for signs, slash drop fees, traffic plan and
