As w e all navigate our own individual paths to healing from last week’s tragedy , a common theme is that coming together to laugh, to talk, to cry, and to simply be with one another is a powerful source of wellness. We all yearn f or a sense of balance, yet it is undeniable that we are all forever changed .

As we have worked to come to a deci sion regarding the continuation of our fall theatre production, there were certainly many factors to consider. But the one driving question that deman ded a satisfactory answer was this:

How can we deliver the h ighest and best good to our community?

Over the past 5 days, we have consulted with a diverse group of community members, students, parents, therapists and trauma experts, theatre industr y professionals, our cast and crew, and our board and staff to answer this question. We have listened intently to widely varying perspectives and disc ussed them all at great length. We knew that no matter what we chose, there would be inherent risks, and that we would not be able to satisfy all conc erns. We have placed an extremely high priority on the wellbeing of the you ng people in our cast, particularly those who are students at Evergreen Hig h School.

So, after extensive consult ation, discussion, and debate, we have decided to move forward with this pr oduction as scheduled. To ensure that the art we produce is a source of hea ling, community, laughter, inspiration, and joy for all who come, we are im plementing the following changes:

**S ince this is truly a show about the romantic relationship between two peopl e, we will be utilizing the title “Annie Get Your MAN” in all materials.

**We are eliminating any and all sound effects that migh t resemble gunfire.

**All firearm props are being repl aced with non-threatening objects that still allow the cast to tell the sto ry.

**A mental health professional from Resilience 122 0 will be on-site during all performances to provide support should any be needed.

At Ovation West Performing Arts, we know that the theater is so much more than distraction or temporary entertainment. It is a place where we create family, where we build community, where we discove r deep truths about ourselves and one another, and where we find joy and in spiration. So much has already been taken from us all this past week. So mu ch is no longer normal. As we choose to respond with empathy, understanding and connection we hope to be a force for good and light in our community.< /div>
