Park County Public Works (Road & Bridge) has restructured positions formerly known as Equipment Operator to Transportation Maintenance Worker with three levels of experience and qualifications identified:

General Duties:
 .
Transportation Maintenance Worker I
A Transportation Maintenance Worker I in the Transportation Division performs semi-skilled work in the operation of heavy and light equipment for constructing, maintaining, repairing and improving County roads; some physical labor may also be required.

Transportation Maintenance Worker II
A Transportation Maintenance Worker II in the Transportation Division performs skilled work in the operation of heavy and light equipment for constructing, maintaining, repairing and improving County roads; may lead a crew; some physical labor may also be required.

Transportation Maintenance Worker III
The Transportation Maintenance Worker III with the Transportation Division performs specialized and skilled work in the operation of heavy and light equipment for constructing, maintaining, repairing and improving County roads; may lead a crew; some physical labor may also be required.

***All positions are responsible for responding to snow and ice removal and other emergency operations 24 hours per day, seven days per week when asked by supervisor.

Positions are currently available in the Platte Canyon, Fairplay and Lake George areas.

Qualifications

Transportation Maintenance Worker I: HS Diploma or GED; proven work experience as a heavy equipment operator and/or truck driver or any equivalent combination of training and experience; and possession of a valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License with a CDL learners permit with the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 90 days from date of hire:

Transportation Maintenance Worker II: HS Diploma or GED; 5 years of proven work experience as a heavy equipment operator for the construction and maintenance of roads or any equivalent combination of experience or training; and ability to operate two pieces of heavy equipment and at least one truck and assigned equipment OR one piece of heavy equipment and two trucks and assigned equipment;

Transportation Maintenance Worker III: HS Diploma or GED; 10 years proven work experience as a heavy equipment operator for the construction and maintenance of roads or any equivalent combination of experience and training; 2 years road and bridge supervisory experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience; and ability to operate at least three pieces of equipment and at least one truck and assigned equipment.
