Geotagging and your Privacy

With the new Smartphone’s and some Digital Cameras, Geotagging has become a blaring reality that brings some new security concerns. Most Smartphone’s come with built in GPS functionality and apps have been written for them that allow you to track where you or someone else is. This can be fun and exciting from a social networking standpoint, but it does have a dark side. Let’s say you take a picture with your phone and then post it to a social networking site like Facebook, Flickr or Picassa..well the photo will have geodata embedded that allows someone to track where you have been. I have attached an interesting PowerPoint the Army has put out that goes into some depth on this subject.
