Elon Musk has announced that the Board of Directors will receive $0 compensation if he takes over the company.
Currently,
For its 2020 fiscal year, TWITTER INC, listed the following board members on its annual proxy statement to the SEC.
NAME TOTAL COMPENSATION
Bret Taylor $284,997
David Rosenblatt $345,415
Egon Durban $320,809
Fei-Fei Li $254,142
Jesse Cohn $277,055
Martha Lane Fox $294,975
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala $280,808
Omid Kordestani $2,941,767
Patrick Pichette $314,975
Robert Zoellick $303,309

They own almost zero shares in toto.

Good reason for them to vote against his proposal and fodder for the shareholders lawsuits that will ensue.

Those are pretty good paychecks for the censorship police. I would make my day to see them all unemployed.

I think it's pretty funny that anyone would think that Musk would be a better owner for Twitter. The man has zero experience running a social media company and everyone thinks "free speech" is so great until you realize that it would mean being overrun by porn, violence, spam, and harassment.

Expectations for behavior and guidelines for content are set in the Terms of Service. Though they are rarely read, it is the responsibility of each member to know and adhere to those Terms. It is the business entity's responsibility to enforce those Terms of Service fairly and equally, regardless of personal beliefs, ideologies, or relationships with members. The technology of each platform's software and the ethical behavior of those who have access to sensitive/personal/proprietary data provides the security for the members and the business entity.

The issue I see with Twitter (and Facebook) is that it is inconsistent in its enforcement of its TOS and Rules and Policies. I can't claim that we here at MMT were consistent in our early years, but we've improved over the years and both Twitter (and FB) have been around longer and have more resources/employees/experience; thus, are expected to provide a higher level of service. They also have famous individuals/official government entities on their sites that require more strict security implemented to protect those accounts, but should NOT apply different Terms of Service criteria. We all know they do and that's what causes the frustration.

Musk is a good business man, but self-absorbed narcissist who has little grasp on being fair and equal to others.

Come on,SC. It is not rocket science! He just has to eliminate the fascist algorithms. Easy peasy.

Seed management with some like minded libertarians and turn them loose.

How do you feel about the lap top story being suppressed until after the election or the banning of the Babylon bee?

Twitter is already overrun with porn and other issues you had.

Great points Bob, but we know exactly why people on the left feel threatened by this, it's always about the scary orange man speaking for half the country that is sick and tired of the one way censorship.

I wouldn't expect an answer to your Hunter laptop question; there's too many logical arguments that can't be countered.

Wow, you have a lot of knowledge about Elon's character, how long have you known him? Do you think the Twitter board has a good grasp of being "fair and equal" to others? Seems to me that Twitter does not treat everybody equal and is certainly not fair, otherwise we wouldn't be talking about this.

If Twitter had morphed into a platform where left wing people and ideas were cancelled or buried under a biased algorithm, I believe you and most democrats would be just as happy if Musk came along and decided to put an end to it.

BTW, Musk isn't saying that porn, violent content, spam, and harassment should be allowed and that there should no moderation, he's just saying it shouldn't be a platform for unequal treatment of ideas. If you moderated this site like Twitter, there would be no reason for me and others to even be here because I wouldn't be able to post stories that were counter to the narratives you believe to be true.

The funny thing about Twitter is how little influence it has as a percentage of humanity, even in the US. But that small little slice of population have a lot of power.

Good grief. Did you not read everything I wrote? I stated right in that post that Twitter hasn't operated fairly or equally Rick. Bob, it's not as simple as eliminating the algorithm, and if you think it is, please tell me what you think the algorithm is, what it does and how eliminating it will fix the problem.

FH, you nailed it. It really is not a reflection of society at large, and yet so many who are on the platform seem to think otherwise, and then there are those who try to use it as an example of how everyone in some group/political party/etc thinks or feels, or believes. It's just not.

I haven't brought Trump up in forever, I've moved on. While he's a sleaze who probably broke the law, I highly doubt he'll ever be prosecuted. He's become irrelevant enough in the GOP that he's no longer a serious force and he'll just keep on bleating and grifting to his base. I could care less if Musk actually goes through with the purchase of Twitter or not (I think it's a publicity stunt or his whim of the week til he moves onto threatening the next public figure) and his character is obvious for anyone paying attention to everything he says and does publicly, not just the one thing they are cheering him on for.

And if you think that censorship or cancel culture is one-sided, you are deluding yourself. Stop doing the enemy's bidding to further divide us by focusing on victimization and social issues that aren't the real problem. That statement goes for both sides.

I 100% agree that the story about Hunter's laptop should have been dug into more deeply by the media when it first came up. It's fortunate that the FBI and DOJ (whom some here have called corrupt without evidence) has continued to investigate the issue for the past 4 years and I look forward to the results of that investigations. It is suspicious that the Bidens haven't disavowed the story, or troublesome appearance of corruption.
