First sign of many along the family's route home through their neighborhood in Burland Ranchettes

Last week, a family in our community experienced a horrific trauma when a mountain lion attacked and bit an 8 year old boy on the head, face, and neck while he was playing outside his home with his brother.

His parents rushed him to Platte Canyon Fire's nearest station, and they whisked him down to the hospital where he stayed for nearly a week and underwent multiple surgeries. While he was recuperating, his school friends sent him messages to cheer him up while friends' parents and neighbors hatched a plan to make them feel welcome back home by making cards and signs to put along their route through their neighborhood to their house. 

The family returned home from the hospital last night to this:

Because community is what it's all about. Helping each other out in times of need and lifting each other up. If you'd like to assist this family with gift cards for food or fuel, cards of support, or cash donations to make up for lost wages (mom is a teacher, dad is an electrician) and medical bills, you can drop those off at Platte Canyon Fire Station #2, 153 Delwood Dr, Bailey or at King Soopers in Conifer.
