Issued for Park County
Affected Area: Park County. Locations include, but are not limited to, Garo, Fairplay and Hartsel.

Advisory in Effect: 8:00 AM MDT, Sunday, July 1, 2018 to 9:00 AM MDT, Monday, July 2, 2018.

Outlook: Areas of moderate to heavy smoke from the Weston Pass Fire are impacting Park County Sunday morning, particularly west-central parts of the county from Fairplay southward to Hartsel. Conditions will improve by Sunday afternoon as the smoke lifts and moves mainly to the east and northeast. However, smoke will likely increase again Sunday night and Monday morning as smoke settles into the Bear Creek and Rough and Tumbling Creek drainages, likely impacting the same areas as Sunday morning.

Public Health Recommendations: If smoke is thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease, respiratory illnesses, the very young, and the elderly. Consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present. Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.

Weston Pass Fire
The Weston Pass Fire is now at 4,138 acres and 0% containment. It has not jumped Hwy. 285. Fire crews did a successful backfire Sat. night west of Hwy. 285 south of the Weston Pass Road (CR 22) to meet the oncoming fire. Hwy. 285 and Weston Pass will remain closed today due to heavy fire traffic. The Sheriff's Office is evaluating damages and will be releasing that information. Full press release out shortly.

Weston Pass Fire Activity 2:50 PM, 7/1

Update: 2:50 PM, 7/1 - A type 1 team has taken over command of the fire. This will be the last update made to this blog.
psiccfireinfo.blogspot.com/2018/06/activ...e-time.html?spref=tw

They shared the flyer that is in the previous post; however, the Inciweb site continues to state that the fire is 1,500 acres in size which is incorrect (it was 4,138 acres as of this morning). Hopefully that will be updated more frequently now.

Park County is posting updates here: parkco.us/AlertCenter.aspx?AID=Weston-Pass-Fire-30

Weston Pass Fire shared a post.

Fire activity picked up significantly on the #WestonPassFire this afternoon and spotted to to the south of the fire line. Firefighters were unable to get a line around the spot fire, resulting in the fire making an aggressive push to the south.

The Park County Sheriff's Office has initiated a mandatory evacuation order for the Campground of the Rockies Association (CORA).
