Strong thunderstorms in the lower foothills. Severe thunderstorm warning in the yellow-polygon. Hail and damaging wind and also torrential rainfall with this storm.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM MDT FOR NORTH CENTRAL DOUGLAS...SOUTHWESTERN ARAPAHOE...SOUTHWESTERN DENVER AND EAST CENTRAL JEFFERSON COUNTIES...

At 559 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 4 miles northwest of Chatfield Reservoir, or 13 miles southwest of Denver, moving east at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles.

Locations impacted include...
Southwestern Denver, southeastern Lakewood, southwestern Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Roxborough Park, Sheridan, Morrison, Louviers, Chatfield Reservoir and Sedalia.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

* Until 745 PM MDT.

* At 612 PM MDT, A thunderstorm producing heavy rain was located over
Littleton, or 10 miles southwest of Denver, moving east at 20 mph.
This storm will produce 1 to 1.5 inches of rain in 20 minutes,
producing considerable street flooding. This includes
underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Southwestern Denver, southwestern Aurora, southeastern Lakewood,
Centennial, northern Highlands Ranch, northwestern Parker,
Littleton, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Lone Tree, Sheridan and
Chatfield Reservoir.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
