ACA (Obamacare) updates for 2014

Deadline approaching: Best guesses for how many individuals will be signed up before March 31st? And how many will be fined? I predict more people are going to be fined than signed up. And isn't the website supposed to be down for maintenance this holiday weekend?

There will be ZERO fines. This administration is only interested in keeping power in Dems hands so Obama will adjust the law over and over in ways that minimize it's bad effects until after the election. And you know Hillary will want delays before 2016 so this turd doesn't stain her pant suit either. Just look for more delays from a bill that's supposedly "settled law".

Drives the Right nuts that people might have the choice to work how they wish. It upsets the work-projections of WallyWorld.

I'm curious...Where did the Grand-ol-Teabagger-Party find enough 6th-graders to explain what the CBO Report ACTUALLY said instead of what they thought it meant?

Well you see Lady Jazzer. At the moment we are discussing the graph you posted, the way you apparently tried to hide the WHOLE story behind the graph and your low-information propaganda.

You never answered our rebuttals to that graph. And your deflections about Walmart and the CBO report didn't work.

You can't answer our concerns about the graph, can you?

(of course, Lady Jazzer probably hasn't even seen our posts about the graph since she has almost everyone on ignore except Fred, who she likes to exert her manly school yard bully tactics on. I wonder if Lady Jazzer's echo chamber has mirrors, because it must get lonely in there).

Standing here outside your little echo chamber we notice you're looking mighty stupid right about now.

She's to much of a coward to read your posts so you'll have to ask Fred or one of her flying monkeys to quote you if you want her to see your post.

Course Bloomberg is just a bunch of right wing haters.

"Latest Obamacare Delay Is Probably Illegal

The Barack Obama administration recently announced that it is going to delay the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's employer mandate for medium-size companies and reduce the requirements for larger businesses. Again? What does it all mean?! Here’s what you need to know:

-- This is mostly about “affordability” and compliance, not coverage. Employers with 50 to 99 employees are still covered by the mandate, but they get a year -- until 2016 -- to comply. Employers with more than 100 workers have to offer affordable insurance to only 70 percent of their workforce, instead of the 95 percent mandated for 2016. But according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, virtually all companies with more than 200 employees already offer insurance to their employees, as do somewhere from 85 percent to 90 percent of employers with 50 to 99 workers.

In other words, the employer mandate was never going to substantially increase the number of people who are offered insurance by their employers. Instead, it changes what their employers can offer them by mandating benefits and requiring that it cost no more than 10 percent of an employee’s salary.

So the administration is not trying to buy strapped employers more time to cover their employees. More likely, it is still struggling to set up the compliance systems that will allow medium employers to certify that they have met the mandate’s requirements, or it is worried about adverse impacts -- expensive changes to benefit plans, or employers who downsize to avoid the mandate -- ahead of the 2014 elections."...

Obamacare is not "insurance". LOL I've been sayin this for 4 years. It is mandated wasteful cost sharing not risk pooling.
I'm amazed a reporter actually wrote this piece. I'm even more amazed at how few people actually "get this" fairly simple concept.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/realspin/20 ... insurance/

"Another math lesson seems to be needed here: Insurance is only a good deal when it actually works like insurance. Using insurance to pay for routine care and predictable healthcare needs makes it no longer insurance, but inefficient cost pooling.

Using insurance to pay for routine healthcare services distorts price signals and increases costs through layers of administration. ObamaCare’s requirements that insurance pay for even more routine care than before codifies the fundamental flaw in the “insurance” (actually cost-pooling) “market” that we have today."

Great point LOL. It is amazing how cheap services get when you can pay cash at point of sale versus dragging insurance companies and federal mandates into it. A number of years ago Colorado started a low cost prescription program for low iincome people. They finally shut it down after finding out Wal-Mart was providing the drugs cheaper than their bureaucracy could even with taxpayer's help.

California takes down online health insurance exchange for small businesses

By J.D. Harrison, Published: February 13 | Updated: Friday, February 14, 4:00 AM

The nation’s most populous state has elected to temporarily shutter its new online health insurance marketplace for small business only four months after it launched, dealing yet another blow to a key element of the health care law meant to lower costs for employers.

California officials on Wednesday announced they are suspending online enrollment effective immediately for small businesses on the state’s new health insurance portal, known as Covered California. Health plans available through the state’s Small Business Health Options Program (or SHOP) will still be available but can only be purchased over the phone, via paper applications or through insurance agents.

State health officials say they will use the time to “implement a series of redesigns.”

“The SHOP portal was not meeting the needs of agents or small employers and needed improvements,” Covered California Executive Director Peter V. Lee said in a statement announcing the decision. “Taking the portal offline will not affect the paper application process, which has been the preferred enrollment method traditionally used by insurance agents in the small-group market.”

Lee later added that he believes the “new version of the online portal will significantly enhance the enrollment process” for small-business owners.

Guess who built California's SHOP website? Accenture... the folks who just replaced CGI as the contractor responsible for helathcare.gov. Yep... Democratic California fails again. That money could have been spent on some other fraud that's sorely needed.

Sure... "you didn't build that." The government can't run diarrhea. There we go, another bundle of taxpayers money flushed down the toilet.
