Hillary Clinton Announces 2016 Presidential Bid

Love her or hate her, you have to admit this is an historic moment if she becomes the Democratic presidential nominee. We've had female vice presidential candidates, but never the top spot for one of the two major parties, and at this time it's hard to imagine anyone unseating her.

I think a lot of people are going to underestimate her. She's been in the public spotlight for decades and knows how to work the political and media machine like a pro, plus she and her husband have contacts like you couldn't imagine. Whether she's right for the job is an opinion each voter needs to decide for themselves, but don't assume that any of the supposed scandals that have hit her before will derail her in any significant way.

"The announcement effectively began what could be one of the least contested races, without an incumbent, for the Democratic presidential nomination in recent history — a stark contrast to the 2008 primaries, when Mrs. Clinton, the early front-runner, ended up in a long and expensive battle won by Barack Obama. It could also be the first time a woman captures a major party’s nomination.

Regardless of the outcome, Mrs. Clinton’s 2016 campaign will open a new chapter in the extraordinary life of a public figure who has captivated and polarized the country since her husband, former President Bill Clinton, declared his intention to run for president in 1991. Mrs. Clinton was the co-star of the Clinton administration, the only first lady ever elected to the United States Senate and a globe-trotting diplomat who surprised her party by serving dutifully under the president who defeated her."

Historic indeed. She has committed fraud and contempt of Congress and still chooses to run. God help us all if she wins.

The silent majority will be silent no more.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

The fact is, if she was a he, there would be no possible chance to even win the primary. Add up all of her negatives against her very small list of accomplishments and she's in the red... then add her fakeness, the lies, and all the scandals. I just can't see the low information masses excited to vote for her like they did for Obama... he has charisma, she's just a fake laugh in an ugly ass pant suit.

It will be interesting to see if Hillary will get the undecided vote. Will people want to be part of history and elect the first female president. Or part of voting for President is inviting someone into your house for the next four or eight years, do you want to have Hillary sitting across the breakfast table from you every morning? One reason she lost to Barack Obama was because he was cool and more charismatic. I could see where the undecided would rather have a beer with Marco Rubio than grandpa Jeb or grandma Hillary. Reagan got elected twice working the grandpa angle, think Hillary could pull it off? :cards:

I think her success will depend on whether the women in the middle put gender ahead of honesty and authenticity.

We don't need another Clinton or Bush. We sure don't need another socialist in the White House.

I actually don't think Hillary is a socialist like Obama, but she could easily and quickly turn into one depending on which crowd she's pandering to. I'll bet she's also trying to refine her southern black accent.

How many interviews did we see after Obama won, with people on camera saying "Yeah, I voted for him cuz he's black"?

And I'll bet we see an equal number of interviews next December saying "Yeah, I voted for her cuz she's got indoor plumbing" - or some variation of the theme.

All because some voters are complete idiots and don't want to think about the actual issues.
