Antero Reservoir will be emptied this summer as part of a major rehabilitation project at Antero Dam. This means the 2015 contest is your last chance to participate in this fun event until the reservoir is refilled. It also means more fish! The bag limit has been raised from 2 fish to 8 fish.
The contest began as a way to honor Bob Taylor, Denver Water’s first Manager of Recreation. A likable, avid year round fisherman, Bob had an infectious enthusiasm for the outdoors. You couldn’t help but like him. He was a champion of the quality fishing experience and worked to develop fishery improvements and stocking programs throughout Colorado. He loved Antero Reservoir, and the Antero Ice Fishing Contest honors his memory and love of fishing in Antero by helping to raise funds to improve the recreational resources at the reservoir.
Denver Water, the Coalition for the Upper South Platte (CUSP) and Colorado Parks & Wildlife are proud to sponsor the Antero Ice Fishing Contest. Special thanks go out to the Park County Sheriff’s Office for helping to make this a successful, family friendly, fun, and safe event. All profits from this event go to funding recreational improvements at Antero Reservoir.
