MRHI is working with Wildlands Restoration Volunteers (WRV) to restore a section of illegal road on Beaver Ridge.

With spectacular views of the Mosquito Range, Beaver Ridge is a popular Forest Service road.
The project location promises some of the more stunning views WRV volunteers will see all year! The FS road is a sanctioned off road vehicle road, but some vehicles have begun to branch off this road to create a parallel trail. This spur road pushes unsustainable grades, already shows evidence of heavy erosion and braiding, and leads vehicles directly through patches of rare plant species. The unsustainable social road is starting to become very well defined and thus creating a cycle of more and more use each year. Right now the social road extends approximately 1.2 miles with the ends being the most heavily damaged areas.

This project will focus on closure of the spur that takes users into these rare plant communities.
Volunteers will seed to close the unsanctioned road, and also hand-transplant plugs of native plants to make the social road disappear. Modifications to the main road will eliminate the temptation of users to create the same issue in the future.
Free meals and camping provided
