About:
The REVEL Rockies Marathon course offers the best of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, including breathtaking views of the Mile High City, towering pines, beautiful canyons, mountain lakes, and a gently flowing stream. If that were not enough, the whole course is downhill on a paved highway and is a Boston Marathon qualifier!
The Marathon begins roughly ten miles up Squaw Pass Road and winds its way past Squaw Mountain, Mount Judge, Snyder Mountain, and Mount Pence, all the while enjoying a perfectly smooth downhill grade.
After leaving Squaw Pass Road, the course connects onto Evergreen Parkway as it makes its way through the beautiful community of Evergreen from miles 11-16. This portion of the course provides broad views of the valley and Elk Meadow Park. The Parkway offers a set of gently rolling hills as runners reach the half marathon start line. The course leaves Evergreen Parkway at Douglas Park Road, eventually turning into Meadow Drive.
From Meadow Drive, the course connects onto Bear Creek Road and follows the creek downhill all the way to mile 26 in the town of Morrison. This portion of the course offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the West, including stunning rock formations, humming streams, and beautiful foliage.
After making its way through the heart of downtown Morrison, the course runs onto Rooney Road and finishes at the world-famous Bandimere Speedway. Runners should make sure to train appropriately for this course as downhill running works muscles differently than flat or uphill running.
The marathon course is USATF certified with number CO14017DCR, and is one of the fastest Boston Marathon qualifying races in the country.
