Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the staff of Staunton State Park would like to cordially invite you to the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Elk Falls Trail at Staunton State Park on Friday September 16th, 2016
Since the approval of the Staunton State Park Master plan and the opening of the park in 2013, the Elk Falls Trail has been one of the main highlights. This waterfall is and will be one of the premier destinations along the Colorado Front Range. Until the completion of this trail, the Overlook on Lions Head Rock was the only location open to the public that provided a view of the falls.
Following a gentle 6 mile hike on Staunton Ranch Trail, Bugling Elk Trail and the newly created Chimney Rock Trail, the Elk Falls Trail will provide access to the base of the water fall where visitors can feel the splash of the water and walk in the footsteps of the homesteaders who first came to the valley.
We hope that you will be able to join us for the Grand Opening. A shuttle will provide access to the Chimney Rock Trailhead and then as a group we will travel the 1.45 miles to the base of the waterfall.
