On October 1, 2016, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is offering a FREE motorcycle safety seminar from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the South Precinct, 11139 Bradford Road in Littleton. Members of their motorcycle traffic unit will discuss challenges facing riders and offer tips for safely negotiating hazards such as curves, gravel, slick roads, and other situations motorcyclists may experience.
Through July of this year, JCSO reports there have been 28 fatalities involving motorcycles in the State of Colorado; four of those occurred in Jefferson County. In August Jeffco Sheriffs have responded to 12 motorcycle accidents: five attributed to speed, three to distracted driving; and four to other causes. With one exception, all of last month’s accidents were preventable.
As a result of the recent accidents and this year’s motorcycle-related fatalities, JCSO's motorcycle traffic unit is increasing its efforts to reduce motorcycle accidents and is offering this free seminar to all riders, novice and seasoned alike. No registration is necessary.
