Jefferson County Agencies Come Together for National Public Lands Day Clean-up Efforts

“Let’s Doo It!” Campaign Leads the Way

On Saturday, September 30, 2017 the nation will celebrate the 24th annual National Public Lands Day, a volunteer effort aimed at preserving and protecting our public lands. This special day provides an opportunity to engage park visitors around a very important issue in their parks: dog waste and trash.

This effort fits into the “Let’s Doo It!” campaign that kicked off in 2016 and is led by Jeffco Open Space, the City of Lakewood, Foothills Park & Recreation District and Evergreen Park & Recreation District. This campaign promotes picking up and disposing of dog waste through collective action. The outreach related to “Let’s Doo It!” includes videos, social media messages, trailhead signs, dog waste bags, magnets on city vehicles and an online pledge to pick up dog waste.

Recently, the partners launched a “Let’s Doo It!” website, providing a place for other agencies to join the community effort, download resources and sign up for volunteer efforts.
