Introduction to Hiking Colorado 14ers

Note: This talk was previously presented at Bentgate on July 5th.

Are you new to Colorado 14ers? Do you have some experience with 14ers and are looking to pursue some of the moderately challenging peaks?

While the recent deaths on Capitol Peak and other dangerous mountains have made headlines this summer, hazards such as inclement weather, route finding and rock fall exist on all the Colorado 14ers. Join Nick Gianoutsos and Bent Gate Mountaineering as we explore the dangers that exist to all hikers and learn what you need to know to stay safe on your Colorado 14er journey. This talk is geared towards first time hikers, as well as beginner hikers (Class 1 & 2), and intermediate climbers (Class 2+ & 3). Important topics include available resources for trip planning, what to bring, where to go, and how to stay safe in the mountains. We will end the evening with an interactive Question & Answer session. Come learn what you need to know before you explore Colorado's 14,000-foot mountains.

Location Bent Gate Mountaineering, 1313 Washington Ave, Golden, Colorado 80401
