The Park County Historical Society will tour the Como/Buckskin Joe Cemeteries on Saturday, October 28.
We’ll meet at McGraw Memorial Park at 9:30am. From the park, we can carpool from there and drive to Como. We will meet any attendees from the South Park Area at the Como Community Center at approximately 10:30. From there, we will drive to the Como Cemetery just outside of town.
We will view the graves of many well-known Denver South Park and Pacific RR legends from the past, along with other well-known and some not well known former Como residents and their stories. After we finish in Como, we can drive to the Park County Court House in Fairplay to have lunch, or eat at the Fairplay dining establishments. After lunch, we can drive to Alma, to tour the Buckskin Joe/Alma Cemetery. The cemetery has many of Park County’s original settlers, some dating to the very earliest settlements of Park County like Buckskin Joe, London Mine and Laurette. When we finish, we can tour the Fairplay cemetery for those interested.
If the weather is inclement, we may not be able to have the tour. Call Pat Mauro at 303-838-7740 for details. www.parkcountyhistory.com
