Alpine Rescue Team’s 2018 Backcountry Safety Programs
Join us at our HQ at El Rancho for this year’s series of free classes and programs (donations are appreciated). Seating is limited, so register by clicking on the links below.
March 8, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM – Skills for the Hills ’18: Technical Rock Climbing Safety
April 5, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM – Lightning, Hypothermia and Altitude Sickness
Please join us to learn technical rock climbing safety skills. Whether you are learning to set up top ropes or you are a skilled multi-pitch trad climber, there will be something for everyone to learn. We will cover many topics, from why we make potentially fatal mistakes on our local sport routes to risk management as it relates to climbing. Please come for a fun evening where you will learn skills and techniques that will help keep you and your friends safe out on the rock.
Alpine member Curt Honcharik is a local climber who enjoys warm days at North Table and the freezing summits of 14ers alike. He has taught climbing safety courses for fellow SAR members and sits on the Technical Standards Committee for Alpine.
