Nonfiction Book Club to discuss A Fine Mess by T.R. Reid

The Jeffco League of Women Voters Nonfiction Book Club will examine various options for simplifying our federal tax system for its April meetings. A Fine Mess: A Global Quest for a Simpler, Fairer, and More Efficient Tax System, by well-known journalist and author T. R. Reid, is a comparison of taxation systems around globe. Using a similar style to his previous book on health care The Healing of America, after visiting several European and Latin American countries and New Zealand, Reid explains in lay language, differences between how they deal with raising sufficient revenue to fund their government using methods that are seen as fair to their citizens.

Two meetings to discuss the book will be held: Wednesday, April 18 at 1 p.m. at the Columbine Public Library, 7706 W Bowles Ave, Littleton, CO 80123, and Saturday, April 21 at 9:30 a.m. at Brookdale Westland Meridian, 10695 W. 17th Avenue, Lakewood, 80215.
