Join us in the spectacular Indian Peaks Wilderness, west of Brainard Lake. This area is one of the most popular wilderness areas in the country, which has caused a great deal of impact to the Pawnee Pass Lake trail. Volunteers will perform trail maintenance and reroute sections away from sensitive wetlands. Normally, this area is closed for camping, but WRV has special permission to camp in the backcountry near our worksite.
Llamas will be used to haul food and gear into the site. This is a three-day project, Friday-Sunday. Volunteers are encouraged to show up Thursday afternoon/evening to set up their camp and acclimatize. WRV has been working in the Indian Peaks Wilderness and Brainard Lake area for over a decade. This will be one of the more adventurous projects of the season but also one of the most rewarding!
