16 teams from around the world descend on Breckenridge, Colo. to hand-carve 25-ton blocks of snow into enormous works of art. From blocks of snow, into intricate snow sculptures. Artists are only allowed to use hand tools, creativity, and inspiration to bring their ideas to life. No power tools allowed! Sculpting begins at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21st with a shotgun start, and sculpting ends on Friday, January 25th at 9:00 a.m. The awards ceremony will be on Friday, January 25, 2019, at 6:00 p.m at the Riverwalk Center.
Teams sculpt countless hours across five days –the result is a temporary outdoor art gallery in historic downtown Breckenridge. Sculptures will remain on display until 7pm on January 30th at which point hey will be taken down.
