Making Watercolor Dramatic
Randy Hale
For those who want to learn some of the fundamental elements needed to produce a dramatic painting, this is the class for you! Join us as we explore the use of negative shapes in painting with watercolor. Find out how to execute both lost and found edges – knowing how to soften and blend your edgework effectively is a critical step in producing expressive paintings. Getting a grip on good brushwork is a learned skill that can be taught. In order for edges of shapes to be varied (lost, softened, blended, or hard-edged) you need to find a comfort zone with your brushwork. This class will get you painting with confidence!
Each class will start with a short demonstration to explain and illustrate the lesson. Each class will include fully illustrated & notated lesson-handouts that break down the skill sets being taught that week. In addition to a demo and explanations by the instructor, there will be at least two hours of student painting time, complete with one-on-one instruction from your teacher.
Class participants should have some previous experience with watercolor, but will be geared for all levels.
