"What happened to the Mean Machine this year?" - Corissa Laplace, voicing her concern, with a hint of sass.
This year, our 50k fun run through Evergreen parks will not be during the warm, toasty days of October but during the festivity-laced days of December! On Sunday, December 16th, we will lace up and sneak this event in before 2018 has concluded so it can still be claimed as annual!. I hope we are blessed with a landscape of snow/ice/slush this year!
For those that just want to know what the Evergreen Mean Machine is, it is a 50k route through Dedisse, Alderfer/Three Sister, Elephant Butte, and Elk Meadow/Bergen Peak Parks. Here's the Strava: https://www.strava.com/routes/10580301
The route is split in two halves, with the aid/fun station at the Evergreen Lake House. The first half starts in the bitter cold morning and leaves the Lake House to climb Dedisse Park and into Three Sisters, then tags Elephant Butte and Evergreen Mountain before returning to the Lake House to refuel. The second half typically starts around noon and follows the bike path to Elk Meadows Park, where you will take a nice little loop up to Bergen Peak's summit before return to the Lake House. Some run the first half, some the second, and a select few seek the glory of the entire Evergreen Mean Machine.
This is a social run, nowhere close to an organized race. I can't even organize this enough to schedule it correctly. Everyone regroups at major trail intersections and summits. Your pace is the best pace. Bring your calories to share at the Lake House.
