The Centennial State celebrates its 143rd birthday on Thursday, August 1. More than 20 partner attractions—from alpacas to art cars to Smokey Bear—come together at History Colorado Center to create an epic day worthy of this momentous occasion. Balloons, birthday cake, a bounce house, chalk art, folklorico dancers, face painting, live music, and photos with Denver mascots are just the tip of the snow cone at this carnivalesque gathering fit for an entire state. It’s all free!

This party is free and open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The outdoor block party closes at 2:30 p.m. Free guided tours also take place down the street, at the beautiful Center for Colorado Women’s History at Byers-Evans House, once an hour on the half-hour from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Not in Denver on August 1? All of History Colorado's museums throughout the state offer free museum admission on Colorado Day. View the list here.
