“Let’s Run Those Wooden Legs Through The Buzzsaw”
The Sawmill Trail Runs has moved to a new location for 2021 and beyond. We enjoyed 8 years at White Ranch Open Space in Jefferson County Colorado; first as a “Fat Ass” event, then as an official race from 2017-2020. We now move forward with a new history for Sawmill at Staunton State Park in Pine, CO featured 50k, 16-Mile, and 8-Mile options.
“Let’s Run Those Wooden Legs Through The Buzzsaw”
Weaving and rambling across the various rolling hills of Staunton State Park, the Sawmill Trail Runs serve as the ultimate test for December running. Runners will enjoy a single loop for 8-Miles, a double loop for 16-Miles, or the triple loop arduous 50k. We’re serving up December #Adversity at its finest.
The Sawmill Trail Runs quickly became an iconic HPRS Fat Ass starting in the winter of 2013 and was held at White Ranch Park in Jefferson County through December 2020. Trail runners flocked to this event to face adverse weather conditions and overcome difficult terrain. These runners returned year after year, because they found something out there on the Ranch, they glimpsed the fullness of their human potential. To better offer this experience to the trail and ultra community at large, we decided to host the latest calendar ultra in Colorado. While turning the event from a Fat Ass to an Official Race, we wanted to maintain the “Fat Ass feel.” What will the winter challenges at Staunton help you discover about yourself?
