The Park County Historical Society will take a trip (our first trip after our last trip in 2019...welcome back all!) to the Rocky Mountain Land Library, located near Garo'/Guiraud's on Hwy 9, between Fairplay and Hartsel on Saturday, June 5.

We will meet at McGraw Memorial Park in Bailey at 9:45, and drive to Fairplay. In Fairplay, we will meet at the South Park Recreation Center, located on the right side of 285 on county Rd. 3. From there, we will drive up Hwy 9, to the Rocky Mountain Land Library. The RMLL is  a residential land-study center for the southern Rockies. We will also tour the townsite of Garo's, a former stop on the Denver South Park and Pacific RR. Garos' was named after the Guiraud Family,  pioneers to the area. The Buffalo Peaks ranch, was started in 1862, 17 years before the RR arrived in Garo's! The spelling was Americanized, after the store there, was ran by the Turner family. Bring a lunch, and we will eat at the Ranch, and explore Garo's after lunch.

Come along and enjoy the first trip of 2021, with the PCHS!

Please bring a mask to wear while we're indoors.
