National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest single-day volunteer event for public lands. Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, this celebration brings out thousands of volunteers to help restore and improve public lands around the country.

On September 25th Jefferson County Open Space and the City of Wheat Ridge will host a 6-mile-long cleanup effort along Clear Creek on the Peaks to Plaines Trail. Join us along Clear Creek Trail near the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt to help with trash cleanup, vegetation trimming, noxious weed removal, planting and seeding, beaver tree painting, gold panning mitigation, and graffiti removal in the Golden Cliffs climbing area. End the day with a celebration at Anderson Park, FREE FOOD & FUN!

Join us at Anderson Park (4355 Field St) at the conclusion of the effort for our post project celebration. Volunteers will be treated to a complimentary lunch, refreshments, giveaways and live music. Special COVID-19 guidelines* To minimize community contact we are asking all participants to bring a mask to the project. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and a limited supply of hand sanitizer will be supplied by the trail leaders.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bring a mask Masks are suggested when volunteers cannot separate themselves by more than 10ft
Bring hand sanitizer
Social distance yourself from your fellow volunteer
This is a zero waste project, please bring a water bottle and a coffee mug
Bring your own gloves
Be in good physical condition
Be able to use a variety of tools, including shovels, picks and rakes
Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
Be prepared for numerous and changing environmental conditions
