Understanding Dyslexia

In our hour together, I will try to unlock some of the mysteries behind dyslexia and help parents begin to navigate this part of your child’s academic life. 

• Have you been told that your child is struggling with reading?

• Is your child not reading at “grade level”?

• Does your child not enjoy school and have a difficult time completing the homework?

As someone with dyslexia myself, I helped my son overcome these same challenges.  I hope to help parents gain a better understanding and appreciation of what your child might be going through at school if he or she is struggling with reading and how you and your academic team can help.

Speaker
After 25 years of teaching middle and elementary-aged students, I launched my tutoring business, Foothill Reading Specialist. The idea grew out of my compassion and empathy for children who struggle in school, especially with reading. Over the years, I have seen a real need for individualized instruction that taps into each child’s personal interests, learning styles, and specific educational needs. I work to help each student gain the confidence to be successful at school and life in general.
