Recommended for ages 16+
Many situations can present challenges during the holiday season, including the loss of a loved one by death, divorce, moving, or losing a job, and others. The presentation will address the difficulties of dealing with grief and loss during the holidays and will provide ideas and strategies to get through the season.
Speaker
Susan Conceicao, LCSW, CMP is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 25 years of experience in hospice and palliative care both in New York City and Colorado. She is a harpist and a therapeutic musician. Susan is currently working as Bereavement Program Coordinator at Mount Evans Hospice in Evergreen Colorado, as well as acting as Adjunct Faculty/Field Liaison at the University Of Denver Graduate School Of Social work. I am a mentor/consultant to students in the Smith College End of Life program and in the NYU Zelda Foster Leadership Fellowship program. Her expertise is in social work education, and the cultural aspects of end-of-life care. She has presented on various topics related to social work in end-of-life care including advocacy and pediatric palliative care. Susan is the author of a chapter on caring for patients and families at end of life in a recently published book on palliative care for health care social workers.
