Come join us in a World Music Drum Circle Saturday afternoon November 6th at 3:00.This event invites a community of musicians and others to come together at Congregation Beth Evergreen’s new outdoor Amphitheater as we recognize, honor and offer gratitude to spirits of the earth, sky, sun, wind, waters and universe and include blessings of peace and harmony. Our Drum Circle will form outdoors at 3:00 and include people playing a wide variety of hand drums, Congas, Djembes, shakers, flutes, tambourines, clappers and other world music instruments. It invites movement, dance, chanting, harmonic singing, poetry and spoken words to cleanse, purify and bring positive energy to the space and all who dwell within. People are encouraged to bring their own percussion instruments but in the spirit of community there are usually extra instruments for people to use. (Bring a small stool, mat or cushion to sit on) Drumming is improvised and co-created by the participants. Rhythms are spontaneous, building off a beat or rhythm started by designated experienced drummers. Other players build off that rhythm, often adding complementary rhythms. Each drumming session takes on a life of its own allowing the energy to build and flow as unpredictable rhythms are created. Drumming will follow a 2:00 performance by Iron Roots Reggae Band.
