How is land conserved and preserved? Lynn Caligiuri, mountain resident and Executive Director of Mountain Area Land Trust shares general information about conservation easements. Lynn will share stories, history, and photos of properties conserved in the mountain area.
Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT) is a nationally accredited regional land trust and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been conserving and protecting Colorado’s mountain communities since 1992. Their mission is to save natural areas, wildlife habitat, streams and rivers, working ranches and historic lands, for the benefit of the community and as a legacy for future generations.
Lynn Caligiuri moved to Evergreen, Colorado with her husband and son in December of 2014, after living on the Delmarva Peninsula in Delaware and Maryland for most of her life. Lynn received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, and for almost twenty years was Campaign Finance Director for U.S. Congressmen Wayne Gilchrest and Frank Kratovil.
From 2008 to 2014 Lynn was the Outreach Coordinator for Queen Anne’s Conservation Association (QACA) in Centreville, Maryland. QACA is the Eastern Shore of Maryland’s oldest land use and conservation organization. Lynn managed donor outreach, communications, budgets, finance and advocacy for the association. In addition, Lynn has worked with the Maryland League of Conservation Voters on special event fundraising, and managed the political fundraising campaigns of numerous state and local candidates.
Lynn has been privileged to serve as Mountain Area Land Trust’s Executive Director since May 2023; prior to her new role Lynn was MALT’s Development Director, managing grants and fundraising since 2015. She and her husband are avid hikers and lovers of the outdoors and enjoy spending their free time exploring the wonders of their home in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
