We are lucky to live in an area with lots of interesting animals - and we are always learning to live in harmony with our wildlife neighbors. Jacob Sonberg from Colorado Parks & Wildlife will share information about the history of wildlife management in North America and how CPW factors into that today. He'll share local history about species of interest to our community, and provide insight into living with wildlife.

Jake Sonberg is the CPW District Wildlife Manager/Wildlife Officer for the Evergreen South district and covers all the country from the foothills of Morrison to the summit of Mt. Evans including the towns of Evergreen, Conifer, Kittredge, Idledale, Pine, and Bailey. The day to day of a Wildlife Officer varies greatly and is often spent enforcing hunting and fishing laws, managing wildlife conflict, conducting terrestrial and aquatic biological surveys, implementing habitat projects, and engaging in outreach and education events. Wildlife Officer Sonberg has been with CPW since 2021 and enjoys working in these mountain communities where wildlife management is a critical aspect of everyday life.
