Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT) needs volunteers to pick up trash and pull noxious weeds at its newly acquired property – Floyd Hill Meadow (FHM). This is a great opportunity to give back to the community and encourage friends, neighbors and co-workers to support a good cause. Volunteers should bring work gloves, a water bottle and wear sunscreen, durable clothes and shoes.
Where: FHM is located at the intersection of Homestead Road and Beaver Brook Canyon Road, accessible from the I-70 and Floyd Hill/Beaver Brook exits; catty-corner to Floyd Hill Open Space in Evergreen. Parking is available along the pull off by the meadow and the Park-n-Ride.
What: This project involves pulling noxious weeds and picking up trash.
Why: FHM serves as a grazing area for wildlife and there is a walking trail used by students and the community. Controlling noxious weeds is vital to the overall health of the meadow. With limited staff available, volunteer support is appreciated!
Eligibility: MALT recommends this volunteer activity for those age eight years and older. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older.
