History Inspiring Art
Park County Creative Alliance has been showcasing a variety of events and murals the past few years that highlight how history can inspire art. This year's Pass Notes is another example.

The North London Mill site lies at the base of the historic high mountain pass connecting Park and Lake Counties, CR12, Mosquito Pass. From 1892 to 1942, the North London Mill processed one of Colorado’s richest gold strikes. The North London Mill Preservation, Inc. is rehabilitating the site for a unique backcountry experience that combines historic preservation, outdoor recreation and education, and the arts and sciences.

As stated on the NoLo website: "We think of NoLo as a Gesamtkunstwerk ([ɡəˈzamtˌkʊnstvɛʁk] German: "total work of art"). The timberframe Mill with its masonry foundation is an exemplary work of industrial, functionalist architecture. The spectacular North Mosquito Creek Basin and the beholder's experience is framed by the site and its continuity through time. The site speaks of the origins of the State of Colorado. To visit NoLo is to have a profoundly aesthetic experience - an exalted state of consciousness. It is an experience informed by the awareness of time and place; of the natural world and human intervention."

You can't help but be inspired!
