Come hike Mosquito Gulch with a burro! Sponsored by South Park National Heritage Area. REGISTER
Join us on Sunday, August 31, 2025 from 10-3 for a Burro Hike up and around Mosquito Pass. Amber and Brad Wann from ReDONKulous Ranch will bring about 20 of their best burro friends for a gentle hike up Tweto Basin on USFS trails. The event is FREE for NoLo Members (only $20 to join at nolocolorado.org). This event is made possible with generous funding from South Park National Heritage Area.
We'll leave from the North London Mill site at 10:15 and will divide into groups according to age and fitness. Everyone will be accommodated! Kids welcome!!
The North London Mill site is located in a high alpine region 6.6 miles from Colorado State Route 9 at an elevation of 11,400 ft. Be prepared for high altitude by dressing appropriately and bringing plenty of water and snacks. Check out this resource for high altitude travel:

The weather in Mosquito Gulch is changeable and unpredictable. Participants should bring rain gear and wear layers and must wear closed-toe shoes. Long pants and long sleeves are highly recommended for protection in thick brush, from insects, and from the sun. A hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent are also highly recommended, as well as snacks, water, and sunscreen
Afterwards, we'll have some refreshments and hot dogs and will be giving tours of the site, including the rehabilitated 1883 NoLo Mining Office.
