As the Marketing Team Lead for Conifer Community Church’s Split & Steak event, I wanted to provide an update to clarify our status for 2025. This kickoff day is the start of our annual firewood ministry program to serve the 285 Corridor and those who are in need of fuel to heat their homes during the winter. Usually it is held on the 3rd Saturday in September at Conifer Community Church. This year was scheduled for September 20th.

However, for the first time ever we suddenly found ourselves confronted with lack of insurance coverage. While all of the church worked diligently to fix this situation, we were turned down repeatedly. Thanks to an insurance expert who stepped up to take on this task, insurance was secured the day before our event was initially scheduled. Due to the timing, it was decided to re-schedule the event for October 4th, instead of completely cancelling.

In the past we’ve processed anywhere from 60 cords to 95 cords in just one 4-hour day, using about 150 volunteers. Last year, the entire yearly program processed 169 cords of wood. Nearly all of it was given out. At this point, those who are in need simply need to start by calling the church office, 303-838-4161, and they will be connected to our wood ministry team to fill the request.
