Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. That's why it was great to see thousands of folks from across the country clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in - safely and anonymously - a record amount of prescription drugs.

JCSO is once again partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This free, one-day event offers a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of expired or unused medications while helping raise awareness about medication misuse and opioid addiction.
Drop-off locations:
- Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 200 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden
Lower northwest parking lot off Weimer and 10th - Dakota Ridge High School, 13399 W. Coal Mine Ave., Littleton
West parking lot near the stoplight
Accepted items:
- Prescription and over-the-counter solid dosage medications, including tablets and capsules
Not accepted:
- Needles
- Aerosols
Before you arrive:
- Remove prescription labels from original containers
- Place medications in a plastic bag before drop-off
