About the Conifer Peace Park

Come and enjoy the Conifer Peace Park, located behind the Aspen Park Community Center (26215 Sutton Rd, Conifer, CO). The young aspen grove setting, along with native wildflowers, is a restful place to contemplate peace.

Take a walk around the park or sit on one of the benches. Take a book from the Little Free Peace Library to read.

The park was designed to foster reflections on the idea of peace. As you walk around you might ask yourself:

  • What does peace mean to you?
  • How do you find stillness in your life?
  • How do you foster peace?
  • How can you build bridges with your communities and others?
  • What aspects of peace building are you willing to commit to?

Various dimensions of the park may help you to answer or deepen your understanding of peace.

  • The Peace Park is circular in shape, honoring a sacred indigenous symbol representing the interconnectedness of life, harmony, the cycles of nature, and the path of the sun.
  • The Peace Park is arranged to also honor the four directions, East, South, West, and North. This indigenous concept represents sacred forces of nature guiding life's journey.
  • Three peace poles display "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in multiple languages.
  • A wind spinning mandala acts as a focal point for mediation, helping to reduce stress and calm the mind.
  • A large entry rock displays a quote by John Lennon: "Imagine all the people living life in peace." On the backside of the rock is the Rotary Club's 4-Way Test, a nonpartisan ethical guide for personal and professional relationships.
  • Two strategically placed benches honor the sun - east for the sunrise and west for the sunset.
  • A large granite rock at the center of the park honors the heart, the epicenter for following true purpose. This enables one to embrace spontaneity and the simple joys of life.
  • A peace library box for all ages aims to foster peace, compassion, and literacy.
