Learn to see the natural world with fresh eyes through the practice of nature journaling! Join Natural Resource Specialist and artist Erica Hample for a workshop that combines scientific observation with artistic documentation to deepen your connection with the landscape around you.

Nature journaling is more than just drawing; it's a powerful tool for slowing down, noticing details, and building ecological literacy. Whether you sketch a single wildflower, map the layers of a rock outcrop, or document bird behavior, each journal entry becomes both a personal record and a scientific observation.

In this workshop, you'll discover how to:
*Observe like a naturalist and record what you see
*Use simple sketching techniques to capture plants, landscapes, and natural patterns (no artistic experience needed!)
*Combine field notes, drawings, and observations on the page
*Incorporate ecological information like phenology, species identification, and habitat notes
*Develop your own journaling style and field practice
*Use your journal as a tool for tracking seasonal changes and deepening place-based knowledge

We'll spend the entire time outdoors observing and practicing techniques. You'll learn that nature journaling isn't about creating perfect art, but rather it's about curiosity, patience, and the joy of paying attention.

All skill levels welcome! Whether you've never picked up a pencil or you're a seasoned artist, you'll find new ways to engage with the natural world.
