This four-day backpacking project provides you with the opportunity to work as part of a small group of volunteers performing valuable trail maintenance and restoration work in one of Colorado’s most scenic Wilderness areas. On day one, you’ll meet up at the Maroon Lake trailhead and backpack about 3 miles before setting up a backcountry camp near timberline beneath North Maroon Peak. On days two and three, you’ll construct trail features (rock check steps, retaining walls, etc.) to build a section of the ascent trail near Minnehaha Creek to prevent soil erosion into the creek. Return to camp each evening to enjoy the spectacular views of Pyramid Peak and the camaraderie of your crewmates. You’ll pack up camp and hike out on day four.
